AD 2006, Mankind faces a mysterious phenomenon called "Algernon". Nothing is known about Algernon, because the people involved all perish. One day, Algernon appears in an underground amusement park. Our hero, Keita, is in there, and he meets our heroine, Hinoki, driving "Kakuseijin". Keita and Hinoki encounter both mysteries and monsters as they try to solve these questions: What is "Algernon"? And what is "Betterman"? Why does Betterman rescue Hinoki and Keita when they are in danger? The never ending nightmare begins.
